Julio César Martínez ready to go to war with Charlie Edwards

Action Stations, as Edwards and Martinez promise a war

WBC flyweight champion Charlie Edwards (15-1, 6KOs), 26 from Croydon, England, will defend his crown this Saturday, August 31, against Julio César Martínez (14-1, 11 KOs), 24 from Mexico City, at the O2 Arena in London, as part of the card led by Ukrainian Vasiliy Lomachenko and Briton Luke Campbell.

Both fighters were face to face in what was the last press conference before they got into the ring. Just like in the headlining fight, there was a sizeable difference between the two as they squared off in front of promoter Eddie Hearn with Edwards towering over 'El Rey'.

Charlie Edwards:

“I think that my boxing skills and the experience that I have gained in my professional career will give me the victory. I will deliver  a perfect performance to continue being world champion.

“I am very motivated to make one more defense of my title and at home. The Green and Gold Belt will stay with me. I respect my rival and I know we are going to have a great fight but I am sure that I will  win  a resounding victory.”

Julio César Martínez:

“In his house and in front of his people, I am going to beat him, I come well prepared, as we have done an incredible job in the gym. I am ready for a war. I came for the knockout, but if the fight is extended I will also be ready to win by decision. The WBC belt goes back to Mexico with me.”
