A perfectly timed, searing left hook to the liver landed by Julio César Chávez Jr (51-3-1) on Colombian Evert Bravo (25-11-1), ended the fight at one minute and twenty seconds of round one.
It was the former WBC middleweight world champion's comeback fight at the Antonio R. Marquez Stadium on August 10 after over two years of inactivity.
The former world champion, Chavez Carrasco, was strong and in tip top condition, after five months of intense training.
In front of six thousand fans in San Juan de los Lagos, Jalisco on a Zanfer promotion show, the 33-year-old formally announced his return with his devastating and clinical performance.
“Boxing is like that. I wanted to give people more spectacle, but that hook was well connected, I am very happy,” he beamed. “I prepared myself like never before, I want to return in September to face 'Perro' Angulo and then go for the light heavyweight or super middleweight belt.”
Former WBO interim world super-welterweight champion Alfredo 'Perro' Angulo (25-7), 37-years-old, also defeated Bravo in his last fight, via second round stoppage.
With this victory, Julio improves his record to 51 victories, 33 of them by knockout, three losses and one draw.
Anthony Dirrell is the current WBC super-middleweight champion, due to face former titlist David Benavidez in LA on September 28.
The WBC light-heavyweight world titleholder is Oleksandr Gvozdyk.
