American Jordan White (21-2, 13 KOs) successfully defended his WBC International Lightweight Title with a dramatic ninth-round knockout over Mexico’s Luis “Koreano” Torres (22-2, 13 KOs) at the Galen Center in Los Angeles, California, on August 29.

Former WBC Latino champ Torres entered the bout with a shot at the biggest win of his career and brought his trademark aggressive style from the opening bell, constantly pressing the action and trying to turn the fight into a brawl.

However, White stayed sharp, using slick movement and crisp counterpunching to neutralize the Mexican challenger. As the fight wore on, the champion repeatedly found gaps to blunt Torres’ forward march.

The end came in the ninth round when White unleashed a fight-ending combination that put a halt to Torres’ title hopes and secured a definitive stoppage win. Despite the loss,

Torres showed incredible heart and grit against one of the division’s most dangerous champions, recently defeating former world champ Nicholas Walters, while White further reinforced his status as a key player at lightweight.

The main event of the ProBox Promotions show saw Guatemalan Lester Martinez defeat Croatian Luka Plantic to retain his WBC Interim super-middleweight title.
