Jason “Mayhem” Moloney edges closer to another world title shot

Former WBO 118 pound champion Jason “Mayhem” Moloney gritted out an impressive ten round decision over American spoiler Andre “Sugar Dre” Donovan in the main event on a Tasman Promotions at the Fortitude Valley Music Hall in Brisbane on Thursday night.

It was the WBC #7, IBF #9, WBO #10’s Jason Moloney's second straight win following back-to-back defeats in Japan in 2024 and '25.

Like Takei and Tenshin who both outpointed the Australian, Donovan, from  Uncasville, Ohio is a southpaw and got off to a bristling start in the opening stanza, using his speed and high workmate to hustle out a 10-9 start.

The fight had its ebbs and flows, Donovan bustling style was successful at times, but he was generally out landed by the slicker Moloney, who overall had more solid foundation with both fists and feet.

All three cards read 97-92. With the win Jason captured the IBF intercontinental Bantamweight strap to go along with his WBC Australasian belt he won in his most recent bout - on the undercard card of Jai Opetai v Huseyin Cinkara.
