Claressa Shields keen for Flint stint

Undisputed Female middleweight  champion Claressa Shields (9-0) and former world champion Ivana Habazin (20-3), will fight for the vacant WBO World Female super-welterweight title and WBC Diamond belt on Saturday, October 5 at the Dort Federal Event Center in Flint, Michigan.

Michigan's 'T-Rex' has previously won world titles at super-middle, middle, and now aims to make history with by becoming the fastest triple-weight champion in boxing history with a world title at super-welterweight.

The 24-year-old talent pledges to offer a great show to the folks of her hometown.

“I am happy to come home and fight. I haven’t fought here since I was 18. I am doing a great preparation because I want to give people a great triumph.

“Coming to this combat bolstered with two Olympic gold medals plus my world champion belts is excellent. Our city has been through difficult times with the water crisis, but I want to show that I continue to fight side by side with the people of my city,” pledged Shields.

This world championship contest will be the main event of SHOWTIME BOXING: SPECIAL EDITION (9 pm ET / 6 pm PT).

Undefeated American heavyweight prospect Jermaine Franklin will face Pavel Sour on the undercard on Saturday, October 5 live on SHOWTIME.

Franklin (19-0, 13 KOs) will make his third consecutive SHOWTIME appearance of 2019 as he seeks a definitive victory less than an hour from his hometown of Saginaw, Mich.

The 25-year-old will take on once-beaten Czech Republic heavyweight Sour (11-1, 6 KOs) on the undercard of a SHOWTIME BOXING: SPECIAL EDITION, which also features an "All Detroit" showdown between rising contender Ja'Rico O'Quinn and James Smith.
