Floyd Mayweather will still fight Mike Tyson despite Mike Zambidis announcement

Floyd Mayweather is prepping for a busy 2026

Floyd Mayweather will fight Greek Kickboxer Mike Zambidis in preparation for his Manny Pacquiao rematch. 

Mayweather has a busy 2026 ahead of him. The American is set to face ‘Iron’ Mike Tyson sometime in the first half of 2026, with the bout currently looking set for The Congo. 

Recently, he announced that he will return to the professional ranks, as he runs back his legendary 2015 affair with Manny Pacquiao.

The bout is scheduled to be fought on professional terms, with each man putting their glistening pro records on the line as they look to settle the score once more. 

Mayweather triumphed in their last outing, although he has not fought as a professional since 2017. Meanwhile, ‘PacMan’ is still competing at the highest level, earning a draw against then world champion Mario Barrios in summer 2025. 

Despite an already busy schedule, Mayweather is set to put pen to paper in yet another 2026 battle. Touted to take place in the lead-up to his Pacquiao showdown, the 49-year-old will take on Zambidis as part of an exhibition fight to prepare for the ‘fight of the century’ rematch. 

Speaking on his Zambidi’s battle, Mayweather appears excited to be back active in the ring. 

"2026 is already shaping up to be an exciting year for me," Mayweather posted on Instagram.

"I'm on the way to entertain!! Athens, Greece, get ready. This summer will be a legendary battle."

The bout will supposedly not put his Mike Tyson deal at risk, with the Tyson fight potentially being pushed from May to April in order to make room for his 2026 trilogy.
