Dillian Whyte set to fight in America next against undefeated opponent ahead of potential Deontay Wilder grudge match

Whyte could face three fight year with big-name also set for America

Dillian Whyte could reportedly fight in America next after his revenge victory over Alexander Povetkin earlier in the year.

The British heavyweight reclaimed the WBC interim title in March, and now wants to take his pursuit of a world heavyweight title shot across the Atlantic with Deontay Wilder and Andy Ruiz Jr names that have been touted as potential mega-fights.

However according to Sky Sports, undefeated American contender Jermaine Franklin is being eyed to take on 'The Body Snatcher' in his next bout as he begins his quest to move to disrupt any potential undisputed fight between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua.

With Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder reigniting their feud with a trilogy fight on June 24th, Whyte could put himself into a position to fight Wilder, a long-term rival with whom he has exchanged fiery words back and forth for several years.

However, a game contender stands in his way in Franklin who has a professional record of 20-0, believes that he can exploit the weaknesses in Whyte recording 13 knockouts during his career which begun in 2017.

On paper, this could be a favourable opponent for the Briton as he looks to expand his name similarly to London rival Anthony Joshua who is a Matchroom stablemate and fights on Sky Sports and DAZN.

Defeating Franklin in a potential summer bout could clearly open the door for a match against Wilder dependent on his result with Tyson Fury, or a clash with Andy Ruiz Jr who is also on the lookout for a opponent after his victory over Chris Arreola.

Whyte spoke on his future after his victory over Alexander Povetkin in their second contest, and hinted that he would wait patiently to discover his next task.

He said: "I’m going to spend some time with my family and just relax. I’ll probably call Eddie tomorrow and ask him what we’re doing next. I want to make the most of it now and retire good and healthy."

“Everyone says a lot of things about me like I’m not this and I’m not that. These guys don’t know me. These guys don’t know what I’m capable of and what I can do. When I read the comments about me, I just laugh. I just laugh at these guys because I’m as strong as steel."
