Deontay Wilder prepared to initiate mediation to reignite Tyson Fury rematch hopes

American heavyweight Deontay Wilder will reportedly continue to fight for another opportunity at Tyson Fury in the near future, and will use techniques such as mediation with Fury's representatives in order to try and force through another battle between the two heavyweights as soon as possible.

The fight was originally being planned for December 18th in America, but talks broke down after a venue and both camp's demands were an issue in negotiations as a result of the uncertainties surrounding the global pandemic.

However Fury has now rubbished talks of a rematch taking place any time soon, and is set to face Agit Kabayel in a tune-up fight on December 5th as part of Frank Warren's 40th anniversary card .

Wilder's co-manager Shelly Finkel told The Athletic: "“We’re going into it very optimistically this week”

A mediator will look over the initial contract's between the two parties and decide if action can be taken to enforce the rematch between the two.

Fury spoke out about Wilder's recent accusations of cheating in the Fury camp and by Wilder's former corner man.

He told talkSPORT : "First of all, it was the suit, then it was the bicep injury, then his trainer was on our team, then the referee was against him, then I had weights in my gloves.

"Now someone has spiked his water [...]. It's one of those things, isn't it?"

"I'm not going to wait around forever. The original date was July 18th.

"That didn't happen because he had an injury so it got put back three months to October, then that didn't happen because they were trying to get a venue.

"And then they had three dates in December -- 5th, 12th, 19th -- which I agreed to all them and obviously that didn't happen. So, I'm not going to wait around forever."
