Benavidez defeats Angulo

Now former super middleweight champion of the World Boxing Council, American David Benavidez (23-0, 20 KOs) defeated Colombian contender Roamer Alexis Angulo (26-2, 22 KOs) by technical knockout in the 10-round, at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut.

Benavidez, failing to reach the 168-pound weight required by the super middleweight division resulted in the champion losing his world title. The belt was only at stake for Angulo, so now it becomes vacant.

Benavidez put up a very good fight against Colombian Angulo, who had a three-fight winning streak ahead of this showdown.
