Daniel Dubois vs Frank Sanchez heading for purse bid as Cuban already eyeing next step

Daniel Dubois is hoping the third time's the charm as Frank Sanchez blocks showdown with Oleksandr Usyk

The IBF have called for a purse bid as Franch Sanchez (25-1, 18 KO’s) and Daniel Dubois (22-3, 21 KO’s) have found themselves unable to agree on terms, despite the Cubans' determination to reach the pinnacle of the heavyweight division.

Both men are chasing Oleksandr Usyk, and with terms not negotiated, the IBF has now called a purse bid to agree on terms for November 13.

Sanchez’s co-manager, Mike Borao, has revealed that Sanchez still wants the Dubois clash - and is eager to pursue any angle that gets him closer to a showdown with the division's ultimate ruler.

"Of course, Frank prefers to fight a top former world champion like Daniel Dubois to prove himself elite," Borao told Sky Sports .

"At this point, however, Frank is just anxious to fight for the number one position, whoever it may be."

Daniel Dubois' plans are following a similar suit, with the Brit eager to get another chance at redemption, having tasted defeat to the Ukrainian on two separate occasions - most recently by knockout in May.

His second loss to Usyk was clouded by controversy, with news emerging that the former world champion had hosted a party mere hours before stepping in the ring with the undefeated 38-year-old .

He has since looked to regroup and rebuild, deciding to move on from trainer Don Charles and seeking new mentorship under the esteemed Tony Sims .

"We're open to any fight that gets Daniel closer to a world title. That's ultimately what Daniel wants to achieve.

"There will be no tune up fights for Daniel Dubois. Twenty-eight years old, he's coming off an undisputed title fight so there'll be no warm-up fights. It's straight back in."
