Dan Azeez gets back to winning ways in comeback fight

Dan Azeez wins his first fight in almost two years

Former British, Commonwealth and European light-heavyweight champion Dan Azeez (21-21, 13 KOs) won his comeback fight in Scotland last night, April 24.

The 35-year-old south Londoner defeated Manchester-based Iranian journeyman, Bahadur Karami (4-29-4, 1 KO) 60-54 on points at the Raddisson Blu Hotel in Glasgow on a St Andrew's Sporting Club event.

The six-round shutout points victory was his first win in 21 months.

The Lewisham man lost his British and Commonwealth belts to his long-term pal, Joshua Buatsi, in February 2024. The pair of pals headlined at the OVO Arena in Wembley, which saw JB win via unanimous decision after knocking Azeez down in the 11th.

Four months later, Azeez got straight back to the ring at the Selhurst Park football ground, with the intention of getting back in the winning column, but instead he was shocked by an enthused Croatian, Hrjove Sep, who matched the home fighter to make the result a draw.

Then he ended the year failing to win back his Lonsdale and Commonwealth belts, denied by up-and-coming prospect Lewis Edmondson, via a narrow mixed decision verdict.

Now, he has put the year of 2024 firmly behind him by getting back to winning ways with a dominant performance to kick off 2025 with.

The light-heavyweight is still ranked #11 in Britain by BoxRec and has many potential good fights available to him.
