Carl Froch has one man in mind for Daniel Dubois in 2024

After a 10-round thriller against Jarell Miller in December, Daniel Dubois silenced his haters, prompting Carl Froch to weigh in on the Londoner's next matchup.

The bout had been touted as a must-win for Daniel Dubois (20-2, 19 KOs) if the British boxer wanted to keep his career at the top of the heavyweight game on track. After a back-and-forth edge of your seat kind of contest, the London-born fighter secured a sensational stoppage, seconds before the final bell.

It’s a testament to his character and ability to be considered a top heavyweight at just 26 years of age. Losses to Joe Joyce and Usyk however, had planted a seed that maybe he wasn’t quite the fighter ‘Dynamite’ had been talked up to be.

Dubois flattened this argument on the ‘Day of Reckoning’ card.

It’s not confirmed who the former WBA champion will face in 2024. Though with a multitude of exciting possibilities, and of course the influx of cash from the ongoing ‘Riyadh Season’, there is no one-size-fits-all approach for the Londoner to take.

Speaking to LuckyBlock, former super middleweight world champion and British Boxing legend, Carl Froch has sung Dubois’ praises and weighed in on who he thinks is Dubois' best opponent entering 2024.

“Dubois showed that he was a really good fighter against Jarrell Miller. He showed a lot of maturity in his combination punches, in keeping his opponent at a distance. He let himself get backed up but controlled the pace and didn’t exhaust himself, which I think was what Miller was waiting for to happen.

“I think potentially a Joe Joyce fight could be a good option for Dubois, just to correct that one. I don’t know about Joe Joyce but I’m sure he still wants to fight at a top level even after his losses to Zhang.”

Dubois may have lost to Joyce back in 2020, but he looks a far greater threat these days. Despite losing to Usyk in August last year, Dubois boxed well. It’s hard to not look outclassed by a generational talent like the Ukrainian phenom, and while outclassed he did not look out of place. In fact on a different day, and with a different referee, he could have seen himself crowned as the unified heavyweight world champion. ‘Dynamite’ Landed a thunderous blow to the beltline, that was ruled a low blow in a hotly debated decision.

A rematch with Joyce would appear a smart move for both men. Joyce is coming off back-to-back losses against heavyweight boogeyman Zhilei Zhang. Facing off against his fellow Briton would prove as an opportunity for the ‘Juggernaut’ to get back in the saddle against top competition.
