Canelo will fight William Scull on the Cinco de Mayo weekend in 2025

Saul Canelo Alvarez (62-2-2, 39KO) will fight his mandatory challenger William Scull (23-0, 9KO) on May 3, 2025, as part of Riyadh Season at Anb Arena, in Saudi Arabia's capital, live on DAZN.

The super-middleweights will meet in an undisputed clash, with Canelo holding the WBC, WBA and WBO belts and Scull bringing his IBF strap to the party.

Four-weight world champion Alvarez, who recently was announced as a Riyadh Season ambassador, will be seeking to regain the IBF belt against the unbeaten Scull, who claimed the title after defeating Vladimir Shishkin in October last year.

Trained by Eddy Reynoso, Canelo was stripped of the IBF title after he opted to fight Edgar Berlanga in September last year instead of his mandatory, Scull.

Canelo dropped and defeated Berlanga in his fifth unanimous decision win in a row. This will be the fifth consecutive year that the megastar has competed on the Cinco de Mayo weekend.

His opponent, Scull, is an unbeaten, technical fighter who likes to counter attack. 32 from Cuba, he has fought the majority of his bouts in Argentina in the first half of his career and Germany in the second part.
