Callum Simpson will defend Commonwealth title for second time within just three weeks

Unbeaten Barnsley boxer Callum Simpson (16-0, 8KO) will be back in the ring defending his Commonwealth super-middleweight title just three weeks after his last title defence.

The British super-middleweight champion defends his Commonwealth crown to Ghana's Elvis Ahorgah (13-2, 12KO) on a BOXXER event, live on Sky Sports.

Simpson has called for an all-Yorkshire derby with in-form fighter Liam Cameron in the summer, but first he jumps straight back in to the squared circle, joining the Adam Azim vs Sergey Lipinets card on February 1st at OVO Arena, Wembley.

The 28-year-old powerful prospect only fought on January 11th, stopping Steed Woodall in round two of their British and Commonwealth super-middleweight championship contest in Sheffield.

Somme spectators thought the stoppage was slightly premature, but Woodall was struggling to keep the power-puncher away, who collected his 11th KO from 16 fights, taking his knockout ratio up to 68.75%

His next opponent can boast a higher KO count with a 92.31% ratio after stopping 12 from 13 foes. The dangerous Ghanaian fought four times in 2024, losing his first fight of the year for the WBO Africa middleweight belt, then winning three on the spin via RTD 8, RTD 5, RTD 2.

However, 24-year-old Elvis Ahorgah has only fought three opponents with a winning record and lost to two of them. Find out more about the visiting fighter below.

Who is Elvis Ahorgah?

Elvis Ahorgah was born on December 3rd, 2000, and is currently 24-years-old.

He is managed by Azumah Cofie, who also manages Ebenezer Tettah.

He has an average of knocking out his opponents in 2.66 rounds.

Ahorgah has stopped nine of his opponents in rounds 1-2. His last 11 victories have all come via KO.

Elvis fought Hassan Mwakinyo for the WBO Africa middleweight title in January 2024, but was stopped in the seventh round. Mwakinyo is known to British boxing fans after his bizarre fight with Liam Smith in Liverpool in 2022, where he was stopped by 'Beefy' in the fourth round after appearing to just give up.

Azim challenges former world champion Lipinets for the vacant IBO World super-lightweight title in the main event.

Viddal Riley, Jeamie TKV and Joel Kodua are all featuring on the undercard too, plus Scottish heavyweight Scott Forrest and IBO World Youth flyweight champion, Alfie Clegg.
