Professional boxing champions Sean Noakes and Louis Green show support to a local amateur boxing show

On Saturday, March 15th, English welterweight champion Sean Noakes and former Commonwealth champ Louis Greene attended the Snodland Amateur Boxing Club show at the local Community Centre in Paddlesworth Road.

The professional boxers handed out awards to all the amateurs after their fights and posed for pics throughout the day.

From Maidstone, 29-year-old Sean Noakes only just made the second defence of his English welterweight title earlier this month, and Medway’s Louis Greene is waiting for confirmation of his next fight, having scored a first-round knockout in his previous appearance on an Anthony Joshua undercard in Saudi Arabia last year.

Including Snodland ABC, there were 14 different clubs in attendance, competing on the stacked show which organised over 20 bouts in total.

Snodland had eight of their own boxers appearing on the all-day event that begun at 1pm and extended into the early evening.

Representing Snodland were amateur boxers Joshua Shaw, who kicked off the action; then followed Mason Gould; Cian Worcester; Max Groombridge; Ethan Goldup; Frazier Hammett; Carlo Vecchiolla; and Matt Guerra. The age range of the boxers stretched all the way from as young as 10 to 22-years-old.

The visiting fighters came from local clubs such as Kemsing, Swanley and Folkestone, but also as far afield as Barnstaple in Devon. From London, came Poplar ABC, Bromley and Downham, and the oldest boxing club in the country, Lynn AC.

Snodland ABC coach, Mark West, was delighted with the turnout on the day, “I’d like to say thank you all the clubs that came along to help make our show a success. There were some fantastic bouts and I’m proud of all the Snodland lads for their performances.

“Also, thanks to Sean and Louis for taking time out their busy training schedules to support our show, we all really appreciate it and gave our lads a huge boost to have them cheering on at ringside.”
