Anton Cherniakov crowned Ukraine light-heavyweight champion

On September 5, in Sheptytskyi, Lviv Region, Anton Cherniakov (7-0, 4 KOs) faced Oleksandr Ivkov (8-2-1, 6 KOs) with both the WBC Ukraine title and the Ukrainian national light-heavyweight championship (up to 79.4 kg / 175 lbs) on the line.

A day prior to the bout, on September 4, both fighters successfully fulfilled their duties on the scales during the official weigh-in. Cherniakov came in at 79.240 kg, while Ivkov weighed 79.340 kg, comfortably placing both competitors under the light heavyweight limit.

The contest came to a decisive end in the sixth round, with Anton Cherniakov securing a technical knockout victory. Following an unanswered, effective barrage of punches from Cherniakov, the referee stepped in to halt the action and award him the stoppage win.

At the time of the stoppage, Cherniakov led on all three judges’ scorecards: Ihor Kalenchenko saw the fight 48–47, while Viktor Fesechko and Ruslan Myshko both scored it 49–46, all in favor of Cherniakov.

With this triumph, Anton Cherniakov claimed a double crown: the WBC Ukraine belt and the Ukrainian national light heavyweight championship.

This victory marks Cherniakov’s seventh consecutive win in as many professional fights and his fourth inside the distance, improving his undefeated record to 7-0, 4 KOs. Meanwhile, Oleksandr Ivkov’s record now stands at 8-2-1, 6 KOs.
