Oleksandr Usyk opponent Tyrone Spong failed drug test

Undisputed world cruiserweight champion Oleksandr Usyk’s first heavyweight fight against Tyrone Spong, scheduled for this Saturday, is in doubt after promoter Eddie Hearn revealed that the Ukrainian’s opponent was positive in a doping test.

Hearn wrote on his social networks: “VADA contacted us to inform us that there was an adverse finding in the Tyrone Spong test.

“It has been sent to the Illinois State Commission and more information will be released soon. We have reserve opponents waiting.”

Usyk’s heavyweight debut is highly anticipated after he was forced to withdraw from his first fight earlier this year against Carlos Takam due to a biceps injury that he suffered in training.
